La Poste’s network in France

La Poste keeps a dense network by law, made of three kinds of outlet: its own post offices (bureaux de poste), counters run by the town hall (agences postales communales) and relay counters in local shops (relais poste). In villages, the town hall is often where you post a parcel.

For parcels, Colissimo and Chronopost belong to the La Poste group, while Mondial Relay and Relais Colis work through thousands of pick-up shops and a growing number of lockers.

Postcodes

French postcodes have five digits (e.g. 75001 for central Paris); the first two are usually the département number.
